Agenda de l'environnement![]() Technical Meeting on Role of nuclear-based techniques in development and characterisation of materials for hydrogen storage and fuel cells
Publicité agenda de l'environnement
type d'évènement: Journées techniques
date: 23/08/2010
thème de l'évènement: Energie
durée: 4 jours
tarif: Gratuit
description de l'évènement: Nowadays, energy security is a major concern, particularly within economies with few natural resources or means of energy supply. This is compounded in some cases by the lack of an adequate national distribution system. Under these circumstances, local or individual energy sources could play an important role, and hydrogen storage and fuel cell technologies can provide a considerable solution. These new energy concepts and technologies considered today as a driving-force for further sustainable development and economic growth need to be more developed in order to reach better energy efficiency.
Hydrogen has the potential to contribute to a sustainable energy economy. Under the right conditions, hydrogen and hydrogen fuel cells could play key roles in weaning energy users away from oil, gas and coal by reducing considerably CO2 emissions worldwide. However, considerable technological challenges related to production, storage, transportation and conversion of hydrogen need to be addressed. Therefore, continued R&D efforts for the development of new hydrogen storage and hydrogen fuel cell materials are needed, and new methods to achieve significant improvements in each technology are highly required. In addition, a close interaction between experts from different R&D communities can be another important factor contributing significantly to the effective implementation of new tools and the development of new advanced solid-state materials. The overall objective of the technical meeting, “Applications of Nuclear Techniques in Studies of Materials for Hydrogen Storage and Fuel Cell Technology” is to present the state-of-the-art in performance testing and characterization of the recent and/or candidate materials for fuel cells. The meeting will focus on the use of nuclear techniques to achieve significant improvement in this area especially in in-situ experiments.
